FAQs

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy assists individuals to reach and / or to regain the skills to enable them to achieve their goals and to improve their quality of life. This includes assisting them to attain their maximum level of independence in daily activities, and to live their life to the full.

What can you expect from an assessment and report?

The Medico-legal assessment and report will take in to consideration -

  • the instructions sent for each case
  • each individual’s assessed disability, their pre-morbid medical history, their activity prior to the index event, their medical condition / needs arising from the index event, their prognosis / prognoses, their goals
  • The report / reports will be objective, and evidence based.

How long will it take to complete an assessment and to provide a report?

This will depend upon a number of factors, including the nature of the instruction, and the individuals assessed needs. We aim to have an assessment carried out and report completed within 2 to 4 weeks of instruction, dependent upon the complexity of the case. Where further information is required, for example - medical information, we will discuss this with the individual referrer. An interim report may be provided pending further information.

How do I know if you are qualified?

We are fully qualified with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from New Zealand. Our qualifications are recognised in the UK, and we are:

  • a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists, and governed by its’ professional code of conduct
  • registered to practice through - The Health and Care Professions Council
  • a member of the UK Case Managers Society UK

Marie has also attended Bond Solon training, and Expert Witness training through Professional Solutions.

We are committed to continuous professional development. We maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills through clinical networking, and regularly attend relevant training courses and seminars.

What happens if I cannot keep my appointment / the case is cancelled?

Cancellation charges may apply - these will be discussed at the time an assessment / instruction is agreed.
